Create Estates believes in honesty and integrity in the Calgary marketplace. Here are a few tips to help you when looking for a contractor. When you're done your search give us a call to book your free estimate and "Let us Create Your Estate".

Know who you are dealing with - Good contractors have a good work history. Ask to view a portfolio of jobs that have been completed by the contractor. If a contractor is unwilling to provide background on their work history, don’t hire them.

Ask who will perform the work - Some contractors will book your job and then find sub-contractors to perform most of the work. Although sub-contractors such as electricians and plumbers are sometimes required for their expertise, it is important to know who will be completing the majority the project.

  • Create Estates is a full service contractor and does not hire other contractors to perform work other than Certified trades people such as electricians and plumbers required for their skill.

Licenses - Each contractor who comes onto your property should have a valid license. Licenses are offered by the City of Calgary and expire yearly, so make sure you check to see if their license is valid. A license doesn't insure quality but it is one of the first steps in investigating your contractor.

  • Create Estates is fully licensed under our parent company Create Escape Inc. with the City of Calgary & area, as well as the Province of Alberta. Our Business number 837421544

BBB Accreditation - BBB accredited businesses have agreed to live up to Standards for Trust.

BBB’s mission is to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust. BBB accomplishes this mission by:

  • Creating a community of trustworthy businesses
  • Setting standards for marketplace trust
  • Encouraging and supporting best practices
  • Celebrating marketplace role models, and;
  • Denouncing substandard marketplace behavior

WCB Insurance - It is also your right as a homeowner to demand that your contractor carry valid WCB insurance, which covers you in case of any accidents on the job site. If the contractor does not have WCB insurance the home owner is ultimately responsible for the welfare of people performing work on the property. Call WCB to ensure your contractor/employees have WCB insurance, if not don’t hire them.

  • Our WCB number is 509473-8.

Contracts - Before you agree to have work done on your property know that it is the contractor's responsibility to provide a contract containing all the relevant information. It should detail the work which will be completed on your property and a payment schedule.

Payment - Never pay a contractor up-front for any reason. Contractors that do take deposits must have a provincial bond in place that can be verified with the province of Alberta. When payment is required for completed work always pay by money order, cheque or certified cheque. It is important to keep a record in case you run into problems. It is also important to get a signed and dated receipt for every payment you pay the contractor.

  • Create Estates takes the worry out of the payment process with our peace of mind approach. We want you to have the best experience possible so we never ask for deposits or money down. Progress payments are required as work/services are performed.

Create Estates & Create Escape Inc. - Believe in an up-front approach to contracting in Calgary. Our work and references speak for themselves. All of our employees take pride in a job well done. As most of our business and advertising is perpetuated by word of mouth, happy customers Create Our Future. Please contact us for further information or project bookings.
